Want new pups in my PRS Custom 22 ...

As much as I like the feel of my Custom 22, I don't like the D2 pups that much. I definately don't like the neck pup and the bridge is a little too bright for me. I play mostly clean and crunch and am looking for stronger bass and clean highs. I will actually use the bridge pup very little alone, but will use it combined with the neck pup. I have a 5 way control and need 4 wire pups. I like the sound of LP Burstbucker Pros, but not the brighter 496/500s. I also like the PRS McCarty pups.

I am seriously considering the Pearly Gates and the Alnico II Pro pups. Both are four wire and are available with gold covers, which will maintain the look of the PRS. What does everyone think of these for my application.

the burst bucker pros are kinda similar to the duncan 59 set. the 496/500t are less bright to my ears than either set. much stronger in the upper mids and loads more output but i hear less high end.

the pearly gates are my favorite set of duncan humbuckers but strong bass isnt the first words id use to describe them.

strong bass and clean highs sounds like a 59 or jazz in the neck with a custom 5 in the bridge

If you keep the rotary switch, you'll need to flip the magnet in one of the pickups or the in-between positions won't be humbucking.

If you decide to sell the D2s, let me know. I might bet interested.
