Wanting a different bridge pickup

Hey there. I have a Big Apple Strat that put different SD pickups in about a year ago. I have a Jazz in the neck and an SH-5 in the bridge - both are humbuckers. I love the Jazz. However, I want more trebble from the bridge. It gets pretty muddy on the wound strings and has no more attack or punch than the Jazz in the neck. What would you suggest? I'm starting to think it may just be the guitar. I have played a couple stock Big Apple Strats that have much more presence on the bridge than this one ever had.

I'd either change the magnet in the custom to make it a C5 (not as warm as the custom because the ceramic magnet is changed for an alnico 5, giving a punchier, brighter tone) or get a JB (very popular pup for strats in the 80s).

I love my Custom but if you want more treb go with a JB, it makes a great combo with the Jazz.

Definitely a JB.

Be carefull because many guys on the forum will say the Custom has more perceived treble than the JB. You could go in between with the C-5.

One more question about this - I should know this by now. But, do I need to order the bridge pickup with a flipped magnet? I know one of the pickups comes with a flipped magnet for this model of Strat and I forget which one.

Thanks! I just may have to try out the JB...The sound clips of it indicate it's attack is a little less muffled than that of the SH-5.

In one of my old MIA fat strats I tried a Custom and it was way to shrill to my ears so i tried the JB. The JB was a lot less bright and trebly. Less punchy too. I liked it. It could be totally different with your gear but thats my experience.
