Warm Audio Centavo (Klon Klone)

FedEx guy arrived about 90 minutes ago, threw this on my main pedalboard, and BOOM! Sounds just like a Klon to me, actually shines thru an amp that's set to just a little bit of break-up. Played it thru my Fender BDRI (hot-rodded), and my Fender SuperSonic head into a Laney 2X12 cabinet (w/Celestions), can go from Keef dirt to a nice throaty overdrive. Only drawback is it uses the same large enclosure that the original Klon does, so it is a little real-estate hungry....I might do a four-way comparison with my RYRA, J. Rockett Archer Ikon, Way Huge Conspiracy Theory, and the Centavo later tonight...

Sounds like a fun pedal. I don't know why I have never plugged my Klon-clone into my Fender, sounds like fun.

I’m a pretty big fan of Klones. I ended up with the EHX one, and put some germanium clipping diodes in it that a buddy of mine found NOS online. It really has the tone, and it cost less than $100 all told. I’m so glad the Kloners have made that circuit accessible.

It's a different style of overdrive thru the Fender, thru the Vox AC30, it's a little chimier (what I would expect), thru my Marshall, with the Drive level halfway up, it's got some girth...

I'm guessing you're talking about the Soul Food? I have one as well, never thought about modding it, but that idea has some possibilities.....

Exaclty right. That’s really all I did to it. The voltage threshold of conduction of those germanium diodes are part of the magic, so I had to try it. It turned into one of my favorite pedals to push the front end of a single channel amp like my Plexi.

I have been using the Klon-clone with mostly my Marshall in the same way. My Fender has been under a moving blanket in the basement for around two years while the basement has been remodeled. Now everything is set back up, dusted off, and ready to play. My next move is setting a board up down there I will definitely give the Golden Horse a run with the Quad Reverb.

My clone isa BYOC Silver Pony, and I've only compared it to a Soul Food, and the BYOC has more gain range and less mids.

ive been really temped to get a archer, but want to try both models to see what i like more with my rig

Archer Gold Ikon has been my favorite in general -Haven't tried a Warm -Im sure it's fun though.

Hey Chadd, just one point to note -if you are not gassing a Klone well into gritty terittory, you are not using the Klon thing really -as the circuitry sort of needs to be pushed well into break up to get the quintessential Klon thing, instead, you are really just enjoying a cleanish boost and how your preamp on your amp reacts to that if you arent gassing it -which is great too.
