That is a description of my Hamer Monoco Super Pro...minus the spruce top. Mine has a maple top on mahogany. I use the Seth neck and CC bridge in that guitar and so far it has beat out every humbucker guitar I have compared it to. Lew

I have a pertty bright Yamaha...I had the same problem, everything was to toppy, and I wanted warm...I wanted to try Lew's CC/Seth, but the guitar has old gold hardware...I thiught new gold would look bad with the old stuff, and nickle would look even worse, so I went with a CC bridge and an Alnico II pro in the neck (both uncovered and black)...this guitars kicks some big time ass now!!!
BTW...I would not describe a Seth as bright or zingy...they are very smooth and warm

pearly gates are great, but if your guitar is already bright, the highs will be overwelming. go with the jazz and the 59, if you have the cash, go with the alnico IIs.

They will not be to bright. I promise! :laugh2: I don't hear the Seths as being zingy. The 59 has more zing...the PG has more zing...but the Seths are warm and thick and complex like a real '57 or '58 alnico 2 humbucker. Those old HB's are NOT bright humbuckers compared to the 60's version which the '59 is more similar to. I had a nice '60 ES-355 that had one changed neck pickup...the bridge was an alnico 2 paf, but the neck pickup had been changed to a 60's Gibson patent number alnico 5 HB. I had some original alnico 2 pafs from around '57 or '58 so I replaced the neck pickup with one that matched the alnico 2 bridge HB. The tone was much differant: not as bright and more mids...much like a Seth Lover. Lew
