What string gauges, tunings and musical styles are you folks getting into?

I'm building a Tele to do some country, blues and Tex Mex and would love
to hear your experiences and advice. Here's the build:

Body - chambered two piece ash, flame maple top
Neck - Warmoth 24 fret, 28 5/8" scale, maple and r/w board, compound radius
Bridge - Bigsby B50, custom mustang bridge and Bigsby pickup surround
Tuners - Gotoh vintage HAPM
PUPS - Duncan Tele Hot Stack and SMN-2 neck
Switching - standard Tele layout, to be decided
Color - trans red, chrome and cream pearl guard

Your thoughts please regarding strings and tunings. Pickups are also up for consideration.

Cheers, Will

Is open B tuned B, F#, B, D#, F#, B?

If so, I'd probably start with 54, 38, 28, 18, 14, 11, but experimentation would be in order. I generally prefer fairly light strings (use 9-46 in standard tuning on 24.75 & 25.5 scales).
