Warmoth Baritone scale = string gauge?

DarkMatter, chime in if you're around.

The Warmoth bari scale length is 28 5/8". Most other bari scale lengths I've
read about are always shorter.

My question is: what string gauges and tuning keys are best suited to the Warmoth length ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Warmoth Baritone scale = string gauge?

I'll ask some people tomorrow, I'm not entirely sure. I plan on recommending we offer a 27" scale baritone, as I think more people would be interested in baritones if it was shorter than the current offering. Though with everything going on there right now, if they approve my idea it won't happen for a while.

Maybe check the unofficial warmoth forum, I vaguely remember seeing a discussion on this very issue.

Thanks mate, I'd appreciate any info.

I've had the neck for quite some time and I'm wanting to do
an assembly mock up before final finish and setup.

Cheers

Re: Warmoth Baritone scale = string gauge?

depends on the tuning...I use 14-68 gauge strings on my Baritone but it's a 30 inch scale and I tune it B to B...

If I had a 28 5/8 scale bari I'd likely start with the D'Addario 13-62 Baritone strings and I'd likely tune it C to C but it would all just depend...

I used 9s on the Warmoth baritone conversion neck I had on a Charvel 375 Deluxe, tuned B-E. But then I wasn't flailing the strings.

Re: Warmoth Baritone scale = string gauge?

Thanks gents,

I've got some 14-68's and IIRC 16-72's at home somewhere.
I'm wanting either an A or B tuning, so I guess what ever tuning
gives me the "best" tension feel will determine which way I proceed.

Re: Warmoth Baritone scale = string gauge?

You might make B to B on that bari with heavier strings but A to A...that's low.

I don't even like A to A all that much on my 30 incher...
