Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

I just bought one of these on eBay and am very excited about it. I have played a Les Paul all my life. A few years ago I pieced together a Tele and love the look and tone but am not comfortable with the Fender scale. I am hoping this will change all that.

Has anyone done this conversion? Any input on possible tone differnce with the smaller scale? Just wondering.

Rock on.

Re: Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

I have a USACG conversion neck, same idea just a different company. I prefer the short scale as well, but like Fenders at the same time. One thing I did notice is the feeling of the frets being more pulled in toward the bridge, more so than my other 24.75" guitars. There is also a bit of a looser feel (as compared to my other 24.75"-ers). I don't know if the looseness is a characteristic of the build, or conversion neck in general. I'd appreciate hearing your take once you have the neck on.

Is that just a playing position thing? The physics require that the geometry be identical between a 24.75" scale and a 24.75" conversion neck. Perhaps the way a strat sits on your leg positions the neck different in relation to your body as compared to a LP?

Only reason that I bring it up is that I'm noticing over more and more time that I'm predoninently playing my 24.75" scale guitars and the 25.5" are becoming almost foreign in feel, yet I love the snappiness of the bolt-on maple neck. This had led to some GAS involving a 24.75" conversion one-piece maple neck on a mahogany H-H strat body.

It could be...I dunno. I've had this neck on two different (Tele) bodies and it certainly feels looser than my SG or Bailey ever did. The bridges on the bodes were even different (Strat-style and trad. Tele stlye). It doesn't make sense to me either.

Weird... slinkier feel to it? I certainly wouldn't want that. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully a few more voices chime in.

Re: Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

OK, I got the Warmoth neck and it looks great! The wood is nice and the finish is very amber-y which I like. The feel is great and there were no problems with the install. I have not been able to jam with it yet to see how it compares. We get together next week so I will let you know.

Rock on.

sometimes all it takes is an extra 3/4" of an inch.

Re: Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

It's official. I love the new Gibson-scale tele neck. It just feels so right. It is purely a personal preference. I have played my Les Paul Standard since I learned the E chord so I just like the scale better....feels like home. I just bought a '57 reissue strat and I am wishing it had a 24-3/4 neck too!

Rock on.

Re: Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

Does it feel different to you, as compared to other 24.75" scaled guitars?

Re: Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

That's all I use on my builds.

My bodies are all Swamp ash and my necks are Warmoth conversion fat backs either mahogany or white korina, some tele some strat. 1 11/16 nut, kluson gotoh tuners, rosewood board, one is pau ferro.

All have various Duncan pickups.

I have 8 built, some need finishing touches like frets finished and setups or some electronic work and 5 in pieces. I am waiting for some more necks to finish them.

Re: Warmoth Gibson-scale Tele Neck

Hey people, what's the radius on these conversion necks you're talking about?

It depends on what you want to get. With Warmoth or USACG, it's the same pricing as any other neck. Mines got a pretty flat 15" radius.
