Re: Warmoth Offering Satin Finishes
Hey everybody...Aaron from Warmoth here. I'm the guy in all the Warmoth videos. We spent a lot of time working on these new Satin finishes. The point Imperfect raised about Satin finishes quickly "polishing up" to gloss is legit. It's something that happens to Warmoth's Satin-finished necks. They do this because the Satin Finish we use on our necks is Nitro. Nitro is soft, and after only a couple months of playing those Satin necks become Gloss necks. The Satin finish on the bodies is Poly, which is much harder, and should stay Satin for a long, long time. We tested it quite a bit, and were pleased with it's longevity. Now that these will be out in the wild, hopefully the results will be the same.
Incidentally, we only use the Nitro on our necks, never on our bodies. Bodies only get Poly.
As I mentioned in the video, these Satin bodies are ridiculously smooth and slippery. When I was shooting the video, the bodies were hard to hold up because they were so slick. I was seriously afraid is was going to drop one. The gloss bodies and had typical "grippy" feel of gloss, and were much easier to hold up....not that any of that matters in a real-life situation, but I can definitely see some players preferring one feel, and some the other.
