Warmoth project complete

Finally I got this done, this thing has the easiest action of any gutiar I've ever played. I'd say with the thick clearcoat on it, it's too easy and will take some getting used to, never thought I'd have a guitar that played too smoothly. I', not sold on the EMG 85/60 in this guitar, despite all the maple it's pretty bassy and could use a little more bite. I'm thinking of going with a passive combo with a hot bridge and vintagey neck.

Soloist mahogany body
string thru hardtail
flat top spalted maple cap
Black body binding
Neck pocket contour
Birdseye maple/Birdseye maple 24.75 scale neck
22 true jumbo frets
EMG 85/60
Hipshot bridge
Sperzel tuners

Damn... TattoedCarrot, that's one SEXY hardtail Soloist.
Very cool looking. I have never used active pup's but they have made me currious for years now.
I'm sure once you get the right pup's you're looking for you'll definately have a keeper on your hands.

sweet looking guitar carrot... only thing i would have done diff is lose the pickup mounting rings and mount the pickups straight to the body

how long did it take to get the body after you ordered it? that is exactly what i want.... love the hardtail

Re: Warmoth project complete

That is so damn sexy. One of my favorite warmoths I've ever seen. If you don't mind me asking how much did it run you minus the pu's. Maybe a warmoth is in my future.

That guitar is so beautiful ... this should be illegal ;-)
Man I gotta leave this darned forum and go back to work, or else my GAS will grow enormous... ;-)

Re: Warmoth project complete

I have about $1200 in it total. $900 for the neck and body, the hand picked spalted maple is hard to get and a good chunk upcharge, and extra here and there for binding, contoured heal, etc.

M-mmm that looks good ... love the top.

Graphtech saddles perchance?

Those stock ones the hardtails come with shred my hand to a bloody mess

It's a hipshot bridge, not the stock warmoth hardtail.

Gawd is that thing gorgeous...

Re: Warmoth project complete

That is one SCHWEEET looking axe! :cool3:

I love the splalted maple/black hardware/black binding look.

BTW that maple top is probably only 1/8" thick, so it doesn't have much affect on tone. I'm not surprised that it's bassey - pretty much a mahogany body. Also, if it's a "Warmoth construction" neck, that could have an affect on tone.
