WARNING : Edwards Content!

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

I can't get over those guitars. If they are as good as I've been hearing, I may need to get one :32:

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

Question.

Is it just me, or does the bridge & tailpiece seem about a 1/4", or more, further away from the bridge pup? Say's it 24 3/4 scale, same as Gibby.
What gives?

Peace,

Darrin

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

very nice, very nice

however, for that price i think i would rather get a used gibson or a gibson studio

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

Funny, I saw that one and thought of you when I clicked on it. I really need to play one, because I've got 3 nice Pauls and have a hard time believing those are as good.
The fretwork doesn't meet the binding the same way on LP copies, and copies always tend to have a slightly thinner tone. I need to play a few Edwards, Orvilles, and Tokai's to see for myself.

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

Screw Gibson, I would rather buy on of those!!!! SchWEET!!!

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

Is it just me, or does that look like a satin finish (ie. Not gloss)?

For some reason a lot of the higher end Edwards on Ebay look like they don't have a gloss finish on them

I believe the high-end Edwards have nitro laquered tops.

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

I always thought laquer was a process of applying a finish, and that you could get a gloss from a laquer finish.

From what I remember laquer's are thin, but I'm pretty sure that a gloss finish can be done. Look at the Saya's on Katana's for instance, traditionally they were finished in a glossy laquer.

I'm still scratching my head over it a little

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

This particular has been aged, look at the hardware. Im sure they aged the finish too.

Yes, you can get a glossy finish out of nitro/lacquer.

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

No harm ... I guess I'll just go for a non aged one when the cash comes around.

I've actually seen some nice Grecos flying under the radar recently which is suprising as they are starting to go for prices similar to Tokai LP's now

Re: WARNING : Edwards Content!

I like the non glossy thin nitro finishes. To me, they seem to resonate better, which means the unplugged tone is louder and the plugged in guitar sounds sweeter.
I'm surprised nobody snagged it for $800.
