i just found this site and i'm as excited to be a new member as i was the day i became an alembic forum member due to the wealth of knowledge i'm sure is present here.
i just bought a vintage warrior series 2 (now called the "signature") 5string from bruce bennett, one of the original owners of warrior and the man who handmade my bass and was the original and only prior owner of this bass.
instead of only the B and E strings feeding thru the body as is the case w/warrior basses now, all 5 of my strings feed thru the body.
it has 2 large BassLines pickups i would describe as soapbar type pickups in a neck and bridge configuration; definitely not a P/J configuration. there are 4 control knobs on my bass. volume. pan for mixing the pickups. stacked bass/treble control. and beneath those 3 controls which are inline, there is a midrange control.
bruce provided me w/a fairly detailed history of my bass and said the SD pickups and 3 band electronics are one of the reasons he left warrior. they insisted on bartolini's and he would not compromise----------so, now owning my first bass w/active SD pickups and electronics, i want to learn all i can about what this setup can do.
i'm already amazed. i've owned alot of basses in my life (3 gibsons, 7 alembics, 2 rickenbackers, 1 pedulla, 1 sukop, 1 warwick) but NONE w/SD pickups or electronics. i can absolutely verify what bruce told me in a lengthy telephone conversation we had------------SD's kick the crap out of bartolini's!
i would love to know what type pickups and electronics i have in this baby, but i am absolutely ignorant about SD's. i have searched the site for an hour and am still no closer to figuring out what i have in this bass than when i started. HELP!
can someone tell me what they think i have in my warrior? it's a '96. i'm going to try to attach a pic showing the pickups/controls. i need someone to edumacate me on what i've got.
