was the jazz neck intended for 250k pots?

the title says it all. will it be too muddy with 250k vol and tone pots?

which brings me to the next question. i am pairing the jazz neck with a hot for tele tapped. should i be using the abovesaid or a 250k tone and a 250/500k concentric pot for volume. 250k for the hot for tele tapped and the 500k for the jazz neck.

Yep, the Jazz was made to go into an ash tele and use 250k pots. If your going with a STL-2, I'd use 250k's all around, or perhaps a 500k for the volume. That's the set I use in my thinline with a STL-2/PG combo and it sounds fine.

I'm planning on using 250K with my QP for tele set. Regardless of output, it's still a single coil.

I've got a Jazz neck mated with original Gibson 300K pots, and it's far from muddy. I can't imagine 250K would be much different.

Probably not since the tolerances on pots in general are so crazy that half the Gibson 300k's are probably more like 210k.

As for whether the Jazz is made for a 250k pot, only your ears can decide that.

I like the Jazz neck with 500K pots. With 500K pots I can hear these springy sounding overtones way up in the upper treble frequencies and those disappear with 250K pots. Those "springy sounding overtones" are what I love about the Jazz Neck and are why I prefer it to the 59N. They cannot be recovered by simply boosting your treble or presence control...once they're gone, they're gone. So I like the jazz N best with 500K pots. Lew
