was there ever a JB neck model?

Back around when the last dinosaurs died I had a SD humberbucker 4-conductor pickup with the initials JB in the model number. This pickup sounded like a neck pickup regardless if I put it in the neck or bridge. I bought it used and it hummed quite a bit for a humbucker but not as much as a single coil pickup. Otherwise the sound was really good. I couldn't stand the hum so I got rid of it. Now I would like to get another but I've had no luck finding one. Did SD ever make a JB neck pickup?

thanks,
Jim

Re: was there ever a JB neck model?

The JB is intended to be a bridge pickup but people have been putting them in the neck for years. The TRUE neck companion to the JB is the Jazz Neck.

"JB neck" IS NOT the same thing as "pickup that goes really well and is recommended by Seymour to be paired with a JB"

Under that logic, A PG neck goes really well with a CC. A PG is not a CC neck!!!!!

The Jazz was SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to be paired with the JB in the bridge.... If that doesn´t qualify as a "corresponding Neck pickup", then nothing does....

But "officially" there is no JB neck model, anyone using a JB at the neck is using a Bridge model like I am ;)

Thanks for clearing that up. That JB I had might have been modded in some way because it sounds nothing like the JB's i've heard. That might explain the hum it had also. Anyway I've got a jazz neck on the way.

thanks,
Jim

Re: was there ever a JB neck model?

take a DD neck model and put in a alnico 5
this will match up with a JB at the bridge real good
or just use a jazz bridge model in the neck
