Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

I checked out the Les Paul one (the 27MB version). Excellent. I did keep trying to get it to go full screen but could never get do that. Enjoyed it.

Hey Evan, could you have someone make a WMV version if at all possilbe?

Or an MPG!

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Thats cool. On the Tele pup change, he uses the inner envelope from a pack of Everly B-52 Rocker's to protect the finish. I have B-52's on a couple of my guitars and Electric Rockers on the others. I love those strings. :)

Edit: Ooops . . . said "X-Rockers". I meant "Electric Rockers".

MPG...wtf?
thats not in any way shape or form close to an RPG is it? :laugh2:

what in the world are you talking about? MPG(or mpeg) is the best form of video.

I saw the LP video, i did learn a few new tips actually. Nice job there guys

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Very good! Thanks for doing this... I watched the Strat and the LP

A few things:

1. There were a few steps missed - but it was pretty easy to figure out what was happening. I liked the discussion about removing strings or not on the LP - that was skipped on the Strat. Also on the Strat there was gap when he tinned the ground wires - kind of jarring but it was easy to pickup

2. I would have liked to see more on wicking the old solder - something I've never done - but I want to start doing now.

3. I was hoping to see a tip on how to start the screws and hold the springs in place at the same time - something I have a lot of trouble with.

4. On the strat movie - he said something about terminal strips on the prewired guard - but I couldn't see them - but I did like the tape trick.

5. I would have liked to see something on stripping the wire - I didn't see how he did that.

6. I appreciated the tip on re-stringing - I'm going to have to try that.

All-in-all very helpful - I'll check out the Tele movie and see if there are any extra tips there I missed.

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Quicktime isn't bad quality.

I just don't have to have to install a new video program to watch one video, or have to have hack to make winamp play it. That is all.

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Quicktime or mpeg. Fer crissakes, please don't ever put anything up in WMV.

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

i have quicktime, but the videos wont play whatsoever for me. maybe if they were downloadable instead of streaming, cause i have another program that opens quicktime vids instead cause quicktime is crap

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Streaming = big no-no. Downloadable would be very nice :D Please and thanks.

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Man, I really wanna watch these... but can't use the quicktime...

Rock On! :19:

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

mpeg is the best format since every player (windows media, quicktime, apple, winamp, divx, etc) plays that format. It's got better compression than quicktime too i think.

Nwy, those vids were awesome. The LP and Strat vids are especially helpful to me. The way Seymour winds the strings too is very interesting. You bet I'll do his way when I change strings on my LP and see if it works for me :)

And another thing, he puts solder on the wires before soldering those to the "pads", which is not the way I solder. I usually have the soldering lead and wires together then solder directly to the "pads", or put some solder on the "pad", then solder the wire. I will try Seymour's way too. He's the man!!!

Kickass!!!

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

Great viewing. Lots of handy tips. I am definitely going to try that method of winding the strings next time I do a string change on a Les Paul.

I notice you edited out the part where Seymour had to crawl around on the floor looking for the spring that flew off when he was attaching the humbucker to the mounting ring. I mean, that happens to EVERYBODY, right? ;)

Re: Watch Seymour Drop In a Pickup

What is he using that thing for the measure the potentionmeter and what is it for?
