I just watched this blind audio demo concerning three different types of pickups and was surprised at which one I thought sounded best. Watch and see if you can pick out the Seymours.

True, I did take these things into consideration. But in my opinion (and it's only an opinion) the wood has the most effect on the acoustic or unamplified tone. Personally I think all the pickups sounded decent I just was drawn more towards one than the others. Maybe I'm just tonewood deaf (if there is such a thing)...

I heard a bright and clear 3D tone on "A" with a slight mid-scoop. (My guess was a SD '59).
"B" sounded very heavy in the mids with little high end definition. Mushy, muddy. (my guess was the Fat Pat).
"C" sounded pleasant, a more even EQ than the other two. Good lows, nice highs without being too bright. Nice balance. But there wasn't much character. A good non-distinct but pleasant tone. (my guess was the '57).
Turns out I wasn't surprised at all.
