wats the badist loudest pickups available

im curently riding an ibanez rg 220 dfx, this has an exelent tremolo system but the pickups lack the nesacery screamingness that i require.
i would like harmonics to scream at evey position on the string and palm muted crunch that rumbles my next door nehbours out of bed!
if anyone could help id much apreciate it.
cheers

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

The Duncan Custom Custom will do that with the right amp and the right fingers.

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

Sounds like the Livewire Heavy Metal could be right up your alley ;)

More output I haven´t seen, with the sole exception on my Dimebucker + Mid Boost-Preamp setup in my Charvel.

Harmonics galore, thumping crunchy mids, and A pickup with Heavy Metal in its name HAD BETTER have a thick pounding tone on the lower strings for muted madness :D :D

But with a bit more Info on what you´re looking for we may be able to fix you up even better ;)

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

Invader, Distortion, Live Wire Heavy, Dimebucker to come my head as some good options

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

I could be wrong, but I suspect that the lowest output, sweetest, cotton-candy pickup made, will drive any amplifier to full volume if the knobs are set right.

In other words, an Alnico II Pro in a 100 watt amp, will "bother" your neighbors more than an Invader with a 50. ;)

Edit: Ooops . . . managed to omit the fundamental point I was trying to make.

Select the pickups for the "sound" - select the amp for how bad you want to wake up the world.

While that is always fun, the signed and dated notice of complaint from your neighbors isn't.

:laugh2:

But feel free to rock out to your hearts will!

And Artie's comment is spot on. Amp provides the rumbles, pickups are the flavour

One thing I admit to doing is always assuming that the "asker" has tweaked his amp settings as close as he can get before he starts looking for other pickups. The question is: Is it safe to generally assume that  :laugh2:

Probably because I HAVE my amp tone, it will probably never change, and I tweak the guitars to the vibe I want :smoker:

:offtopic: Which is BTW, Proph, why the AT-1 is gonna keep the Armstrongs, she´s perfect. Has a real les paulish vibe, but with a Jackson edge, both tonally and as a player. Pics are in Brisk´s GAS thread if you haven´t seen ´em ;)

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

im not sure that is a safe assumption, i bet a lot of people get into this without really knowing why they cant get the sound they want. the longer youve been searching for "the tone" the easier it is to figure out what part of your signal chain is causing the problems

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

that looks like a JB/JB combo for ya!

but personally i'd recommend a Custom/distortion neck model for you. the custom is great with harmonics and shredding, and i guess the distortion neck would be awesome at neck shred leads :)

thanx 4 all the grea feedback. however it now seems that i still have many pickups too chose from. maby i could be more specific.
i hava a marshal 100watt dfx which provides all those exelent settings and yes i have tweaked it to perfection.

basicly my main aim is be able to play "bad horsie" by steve vie but without buying his 2grand guitar as mine plays well enough, i just want that sound!

the pickups have to have the dirtyest sound possibe, maby even sounding dirty on the clean chanel!!(if thats posseble!) and to have such good harmonics that i can pinch a pinch harmonic ANYWHERE and still make it squeel like... well a bad horse!

i think that i have to chose from the "custom custom" "distortion custom" and the "full shred" pickups, all in the neck bridge position as i want a cleaner pickup in the neck possition.

also dose anyone know what a sustainer dose and where 2 get one etc..
ok cheers agen.

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

distortion custom isn't a pickup, it's the sh-5 Custom for bridge and the sh-6 Distortion neck model for nekc.
well, you like steve vai.... obviously so just get the evolutions. but beware, they are extremely hot. unless your playing is perfect, the evo will show every mistake.

Re: wat's the badist loudest pickups available?

if you want the highest output available out there with lots of harmonics and wanna go active try the emg81

Sorry, Ive tried both EMG´s and Livewires, and Output, Crunch and Harmonic-wise, the LW HM Smokes the EMG ;)

But the EMG´s stay clearer under higer gain levels, that I´ve gotta give ´em (althiogh I like EMGs for some uses anyway ;))
