Wax potting the switch and control cavity!!!

Re: Wax potting the switch and control cavity!!!

Well, I see how in 1974 people were learning about wax potting, and thought that it would be super quiet if you apply the same thing to a guitar circuit. There is probably an amp out there with wax poured inside, as well.

Man, that's just "beautiful"-

reminds me of the "great tone enchancing tips" about putting your guitar in the bathtub, with warm water, overnight... :/

Re: Wax potting the switch and control cavity!!!

I always thought, the double zero prefix indicates the 1976 production year??

You are correct. That decal indicates a 76. As does the Schaller tuners. 74 would have had Kulson Wafflebacks as stock.
Gibson under Norlin were constantly 'finding' old boxes of parts. Late 70s/early 80s they were running at the same time 2 completely different headstocks for Customs, after some veneers from the early 70s (a shorter more vintage shaped version) were found.

Cool. Thanks for that info. I'll pass it along to the customer.

How DARE YOU! I am never bringing my guitars to you again, this is so humiliating.
Ha, it would be pretty funny if the guy really was on here though.

Wax potting improves everything!. I'm going to wax pot my entire guitar.
