Way Huge Pork Loin

Re: Way Huge Pork Loin

Had one for a while, one of the best light overdrives I have ever used... I have a Green Rhino right now and it's probably the best tubescreamer clone I have ever tried. Very nice pedal. I feel I should say Way Huge has a lot of great pedals.

Re: Way Huge Pork Loin

The overdrive is very dark and kinda fuzzy. It works better with single coils.

The Pork Loin is so good I really do wish I had a use for it! It's definitely my favorite non-TS-derived OD. I may still get one someday, but at the moment I really don't have a need for one in my rig.

Just out of curiosity, is it rendered unnecessary by your amp or another one of your pedals? If it's a pedal, which one? Or do you just not have a need for that sound?

My main amp is a Mark V: three channels + foot-switchable EQ = six tones without pedals.

I have two drive pedals that work well with it. I use my Raptor (TS variant I built) to fatten up whatever channel I'm on, and I use the Manx Loagthan for what I call "nuclear meltdown mode".

I'm also trying to get better at using the guitar's volume and tone controls to sculpt drive as opposed to having a board full of gain pedals.

I'm honestly not too sure what I'd do with a Pork Loin in that rig. The only thing I can think of is use it as a replacement for the Raptor, but that would be a shame because the Raptor's awesome.

Heh... Thumbs up to Way Huge. The two pedals I have, ironically, were purchased from people who've already participated in this discussion. (You know who you are!) They are having a great time, and are getting along well with my Blues Jr.

The Pork Loin is a very tasty overdrive. It's not INYOURFACE!!! the way some OD pedals can be. More like a light boost with an extra pinch of doesn't suck. I don't tend to set-and-forget it though, it's just too much fun tweaking the knobs.
