What guitar are you playing today?

Just grabbed this one as my mates have suggested getting together for a jam on Friday after a few months off. This is probably my easiest playing bass, it’s got a slim neck, low action with TI flats, lightweight and versatile pick up config… shouldn’t be too taxing for a refresher.image.webpimage.webp

Since popping back here recently it’s rejuvenated my interest in playing. Just been relearning and playing through a few tracks from a while back, namely a little bit of Y&T. I love them, DM is awesome and should have got to the top IMO, he’s just a fabulous player, singer and always knows how to build solos. So I had a Les Paul fest, played through Forever, Winds of change, Barroom Boogie and Midnight in Tokyo in a fashion… enjoyed playing more than I have done in a few years! A big thanks to you guys here who have kept the forum alive and reignited my desire to dig stuff out and play again.

That's a serious brace of Pablos.

I see you also have a Gordon Smith!

I have 2, the GS1 hanging up and a SG shape with 2 pick ups. Seriously good and mostly under the radar guitars, they play and sound great. Not fancy but very well put together and easily hang with any of the guitars I own. Of late they are the 2 I’ve been playing the most because they are so good.

Busted the Epi Les Paul out tonight for some Megadeth in D standard. Man, just when I think, "I dunno, maybe the JB isn't heavy enough for this tuning / genre / guitar, maybe I need to think about other options," I feel like the JB tells me, "Shut your face and just listen to how good I sound." There is something so beautifully crunchy about its rhythm tones, and any fears I had about its suitability for D standard have vanished.

Now I can go ahead and keep my EC-1000 LTD permanently in C#.

Oh, and the Jazz sounded *ace* on part of the clean intro to Megadeth's "Conquer or Die."

I'm usually not a trad guy, but JB-Jazz in a Les Paul. Just. Works.

'look Ma, no pickguard!' I like it, and I like the firebird neck, one of these days I've got to try it, I put a mini in the past, good but not enough, it wasn't a good pickup maybe, chinese stuff, but the idea still intrigues me
