WCR Darkburts- Good HB for AC/DC type of tones?

What about Bareknuckles Riff Raff? I really like the 59 for that tone but I'm open to others to try.

What tones are the WCR Darkburst best suited for?

The guitar is a Gibson 61 Reissue. I have a Seth Lover in the neck and a 59 for the bridge. Sounds great but the Bareknuckles Riff Raff and WCR Darkbursts interest me.

Any Opinions?

Well, the obvious tones would be Duane Allman from "At the Fillmore East" The Darkbursts are meant to replicate the tone from his (standard tuned) LP on that record. They should be awesome. I don't see any reason that you couldn't do AC/DC with them. Duane's Fillmore tone is, IMHO, the BEST Les Paul/Marshall tone EVER!

Dunno them Darkbursts. (Do a search, Lee_M had a quite a long evaluation of them ;) )

Also check out the BroBucker threads. I think you'd be (or should be :D ) interested.

First off, do you want Angus' tone, or Malcolm's?

For Angus, you'd need a PAF style pickup with an Alnico V mag.

For Malcolm, you'd have to go with something that sounds like a Filtertron, like TV Jones' TV 'tron.

Am i being too simple, or am i correct when i say that the pu's that you have now, chould get you what you want IF you use a 50W Plexi, or any other "WIDE OPEN", vintage Marshall's ???

Do you use Marshall's at all ?

Also, do not forget the Angus Young sig pu's on the Gibson site !!!

They too, might point you in the right direction !

+1 on the Brobucker. It really nails the Angus type of tone!

The 59 does get into that territory, I just would like to try a few other things just to compare and on the great things I have heard about WCR.

I have 76 Superlead with 69 spec. Sozo caps- it gets the AC/DC tone quite well. My JMP 2203 also is nice for those tones- with Sozo caps- takes a bit of that high end out. I use NOS tubes: Mullard, RFT, Tesla, Brimar, etc. Cab is an Orange 4/12 with Hellatone 30- broken in H30.

I think the 59 in the bridge and the Seth Lover in the neck is a great combo but it would be cool to try those Darkbursts.

I have A Darkburst bridge in one of my Les Pauls. It sounds incredible. I use it for higher gain stuff, like Buckcherry (they use Goodwoods) and the Cult. With your setup, I wouldn't be surprised if you got the Angus tone just fine.
