We need more Floyd Strats!!

Re: We need more Floyd Strats!!

Speaking of Mick Mars and your clones, how about a clone of his Girls, Girls, Girls Kramer tele with a OFR?

Which one? The black one with the pink letters or the pearl white arch-topped one with the red letters? ;)

but more importantly, custom colors:

this thread made me say "Yeah a Floyd Strat would be kinda cool I guess" and then they throw this green and black maple-neck thing at me. bastads.

Re: We need more Floyd Strats!!

the one he played at the end of the girls, girls, girls vid was the black tele with the pink letters.

Right, but he also had the pearl one white as well that he played on tour along with the black one. IIRC, both had boobies air brushed on the back. :cool2:

Re: We need more Floyd Strats!!

See Kramer thread...Kramer (ESP) perfected the Strat with Floyd thing.

Kramer wasn't always done by ESP. ;) They were done by Sports, then ESP by the mid-80's for the necks, then by about '87 they were supplying both the necks and bodies.

Charvel back in the day had done a really great job with the Floyded Strat as well.

Pretty sure that sometime in '85 that all body production was done by ESP (and other subcontractors). I just tend to mention ESP whenever I mention Kramer without spinning the entire yarn...long, convoluted and still abound with mystery!!!

Of course you are dead on with the original Charvel reference...except one still had to buy the Floyd from Kramer first...for top dollar...OUCH!!

For the Baretta's, yes, but I think some of the bodies were still done by Sports until '87. Tiny details anyway. I've got one Kramer (used to have 2) and am planning on having a few more. I'd love an old Pacer and another Baretta.

Re: We need more Floyd Strats!!

Hell Yeah.... I wanted a nice floyd strat for a long time. I almost pulled the triger on a MIM floyd and a couple MIM sambora strats on ebay but ended up geting a American Standard! I loved everything about that strat but i really missed haveing a floyd after I sold my wolfgang. So I sold the strat after I bought a warmoth floyd strat body from ErikH and built this!!! I'll never let it go....
