Weak output, both humbuckers

Hi everyone, I'm having some trouble with a nazgul and sentient set I bought. I've rewired them three times now, in two different guitars.

I get signal but it's really weak. For reference, the pearly gates neck sounds like a mighty metal god next to it. The wires had been cut but they were still just long enough. I finally managed to get a little bit of what they should sound like out of them for a few seconds but with a lot of hum as if they weren't grounded, though they were.

I've got the red and white wires together and the black to the post and green and bare to the top of the pot, grounded. I've done it the same way on three different pots to no avail. Both pickups.

Any idea what might be up and what I can do? Thanks!

Check to see if you got a blob of solder somewhere you shouldn't have. In this case, I'd probably start at the output jack and work back toward the first connection since it's affecting both pickups.

Re: Weak output, both humbuckers

try wiring each direct to output jack....should get good strong signal just to make sure...then do as TM said...move one component at a time until you find the weak point....

Measure the dcr with a dmm in all positions and without circuit.
