Weber 6h50 build thread

Re: Weber 6h50 build thread

Board in...only a few connections left to do on the board itself, then the ground busses.

And it's done... and it works! Flawlessly... no buzz, no hum, great great tone from the first power-up!... LOVE that thang! Of course I played it for a few minutes since the kids were asleep but man do I like the overdrive on this and the cleans rule... at the volume I tested it.

Here are the final gut shots. I won't put it in its sleeve since I need to wait to receive my new IEC socket (that one's broken and won't stay in). Otherwise I'm done...

So, new build starting now. Bought a weber 6h50 (Ted's take on the Dr504 although not a perfect clone) kit. I don't want this to become a "you can't do it right without the partrige trannys... I don't care, as long as the amp sounds great to me.

I completely understand this attitude, Jer. If it sounds good why does it have to sound like something else that sounds good. Admittedly, I don't know anything about the amp in question. I'm just sayin', and one reason I'm sayin' is because if I ever get around to building my 5e3 Mission kit, and if I like the way way it sounds, I know for certain I won't give a flip if it doesn't yield the exact tones of an original name the year you like 5e3.

Re: Weber 6h50 build thread

That's how I feel about recording and mixing.
Congrats on a stellar build. Glad it worked right out of the gate!! :)

Man, I wish I had your skills!

Glad you get it brother.

Re: Weber 6h50 build thread

Congratulations , that looks great and from your report sounds as good as it looks.

Yeah, can't wait to spend more quality time with it... I'll try to do a demo when I get a chance but it'll have to be in my unheated garage if I want it to be loud enough to be meaningful. so not until spring at least.
