Weezer (blue album) sound

I think most of you should know about the awesome tones from Weezer's first album, with the blue cover. So what pickups can I use to get that sweet smooth clean, with the sweet smooth overdrive?

not anymore. they used to have it all in high detail, but theres barely any info now

don't quote me on this, but I believe a lot of the lead tones were played on a Gibson Les Paul Junior, with that one stock dogear pickup.

its the same stuff, just shown differently.

for the crunch, rivers used a 1959 gibson les paul junior with the p-90's
for the clean, rivers used a 1960's jaguar


rivers for live stuff used durring that time a 59 in the bridge and a humbucker from hell in the neck

remember, however, that even though it sounds like there is a lot of gain, on the blue album the gain was only turned up to about 5....
