Weirdest pickup problem ever!

Hi All,

Does anyone know what this problem is?:

I have the bridge pickup only in my Les Paul at the moment (the neck pickup has been removed and is awaiting replacement). However when the neck pickup is selected I am not getting the silence from the guitar that you might expect. I am instead getting sound levels equivalent to running the bridge pickup with the volume control set to about 1. Where is this signal bleeding across from? A bad switch?

What you are hearing is perfectly normal. Even the very best switches can leak a tiny bit of signal.

Interesting. I would have imagined a good switch would not pass any signal. I guess that means every time you listen to one pickup in a Les Paul you're listening to a little of the other one too!

Yes, i often wondered this because when you turn down the neck pickup volume and select the bridge pickup, it sounds different than when you have the neck pickup volume up and select the bridge pickup. This has often drove me crazy because i like the sound of the bridge pickup without any neck leakage but switching pickups on the fly is impossible because you have to turn the volume back up on the neck pickup when you switch.
