Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Im just happy your cat uses the box, we have one that goes right next to the box

Again congrats, beautiful guitar and great collection to boot

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Well it is a beautiful guitar just bummed it has to go straight to a pro repair shop to get tuned up and or fixed.

Normally I would spend the time to give it a tune up but since it is brand new and I have not worked on this type of guitar I think it makes more sense on my part to have someone else check it out. Plus he is going to let me hang out and see what he does.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Sounds good. There was a thread on here not that long ago about buying new guitars and either completely set up or fret work needing to be done, even on hihh end Gibsons and Fenders. Sorry you have to go thru that or anyone else for that matter.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

So it was just a truss rod adjustment. He did that, tuned set intonation and it was good.

I found out that when you fret a stainless steel fretted guitar wrong it dang sure makes a strange noise which is one of the things I was hearing. Never had a steel fretted guitar so when I did not fret a chord correctly it made me think it was the guitar.

Glad it was just a quick setup and educational learning session for me.

Oh my god, that guitar must be amazing! Those Ernie ball instruments are top notch. Go break it in!

That’s a real thing you know. My guitars were good new but once I played them real good they started to feel like home.

Keep in mind that at this time of year humidity levels are changing. Just last weekend I had to adjust the truss rod on 3 guitars.
So, that’s not abnormal that you needed to do that.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

I've played a JP16, sadly it doesn't really fit me feel wise or budget wise (:D) but it remains one of the very finest instruments I've ever laid hands on, if not the finest.
I also tried a Ernie Ball Valentine and that thing truly blew me away.

Congratulations, you have a lifetime keeper there. Now go and sell that RR, it's pointless now. :D

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

My 2 EB/MM guitars are my absolute favorites, so congrats to you!

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Well now that I know what a wrong fretted note on stainless steel frets sound like it should help me out in my playing.

I had just never heard a sound like that on any of my other guitars and when I heard it on the JP I thought something was wrong. And it fact there was something wrong, me. Still needed to be setup but I believe the major issue was me and not the guitar. The setup guy thought is was a very nice constructed instrument.

And while I was there, I had my somewhat new Epiphone SG setup also.

He only charged me the price of one setup instead of two which was great. When he told me the bill I tried to add a 30 dollar tip, or extra on top for him but he would not take that much so we settled on a final cost.

I will be taking them back in August for another setup due to weather changes and at sometime I will get the Jackson RRXT and Gibson SG Gothic in there.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Nope, I will never be selling any of the ones I have. Probably will not be adding anymore but surely will not be letting go of any either.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Hope you never have to, man!

Nothing wrong with those Epiphones, nothing at all. Enjoy!
