Well, I did it...

I sold the first amp I ever owned today. One that I've loved for the last 7-8 years-one that I've drank and cried to, drank and rocked with, drank and drove with. On it I learned, stranglehold, back in black, stairway, freebird. I've played teles, strats, pauls, RGs. It accepted my first pedal-a Crybaby, then a small fry, then a zendrive. It had pulled me through times of worry, happiness, rage and frustration, all while supporting the cold brew or whiskey-just above the power switch. It contained my first tube swaps: EH 12ax7, even english celestions.

She was an original Cybertwin, and I let her go to make room foor another amp. Got a decent price-gave a decent deal to a guy giving it to his son.

Excuse me, as I shed a tear...have a tissue for your tears of sadness...

Sucks you had to let go of your amp.

What amp is replacing it that justified getting rid of a prized amp?

Those CyberTwins were amazing stuff. I used to work at a place that sold them.

Get yourself some good tubes, man. It'll help the pain dull a bit.

I raise a beer in it's honor and your loss. May the tone trail be filled with musical harmonics and perfect bends.

Swart Atomic Space Tone-

I played thru one and totally fell in love with it's clean and overdriven sound. Plus it's sub 30 lbs. I've saved for years, putting off smaller purchases and I've even wasted a bit of cash in a search-buy used-mod it-meh-sort of turkey chase. Once I played it I really thought that it was "it." So, I have a couple of cool pedals on the way and thought that I'd had enough of the CT and loved the simplicity of the AST. It sounds great even with my 2 yo sleeping-even better turned up a bit.

So, my front end will be a Tim, RS Chorus, (delay TBD) AST. So far, it's just been the small fry and the AST-which takes very well to my teles and strats.

The CT was a great first amp for me because I learned a lot about the modelling pros and cons, and had a pretty wide open palette of tones to work with. As the years went on, I just settled on about 2 or so tones and left all the other options alone.

I'm very happy now and I think I'm done with amp purchases.

Traitor !!!

How could you sell your first and best amp friend like that ?

Have you no feelings?

No compassion?

No sense of decency ?

You are a cold blooded,

insensitive,

thoughtless,

monster of a creature.

( and they're your good points ! )
