Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

I can't even imagine a 4x12 full of EV's. That's 80lbs of speakerage alone. Crazy that your Boogie 1x12 weighs more than the whole G-flex. Out of curiosity, how does the 1x12 sound? I played briefly through just the closed portion of my Boogie and liked the mix of speakers much more.

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

Just noticed yours has a different logo than my 2x12 halfback. Mine has the "Mesa/Boogie" plate in the center not just "Boogie" in the upper corner. Seen a few over the yrs and never noticed one like yours.

Hopefully you won't have this problem but I have one caster that likes to remove itself. Several different times when loading it in & out of the van it would fall out. Yours looks better cared for than mine. I bought mine "road worn" so to speak. LOL!

Yeah, mine have the larger "center plate logo",as well...

+ another on keeping your eye on the casters.Mine had a good run,but once they start slipping, they're pretty useless.
A trip to Harbor Freight worked out well for me,tho.Got a coupla their small rolling dollies(on sale for about $10 each) & used the casters off those for a few years now, although they're not removable/stackable anymore(no biggie),& I had to pop out the housing that the casters lived in.

Congrats again!!!

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

I did a good bit of research on these cabs before I bought it and I didn't see any others with the small logo like mine. The grille has the holes to accomodate the big logo. Would either of you mind checking if there are two small holes in your grille where my logo is? I'm curious as to whether or not mine was modified.

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

Wonder if it was a custom shop deal. I think I've seen custom shop stuff that uses the "Boogie" logo like you see on Mk series when normally they would have the Mesa logo.

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

Now that you have had it for a little while...
Do you enjoy having the top slant up a bit.?
Have you tried reversing the speakers...or have you tried putting your Band Master cab speakers in there.?
Just curious
Thanks

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

No holes where your "Boogie" logo is on my cab. That does look just like the logo on my old MK III.

Re: Well, I Got Myself a Boogie

The different logos are from different eras. The Mesa/Boogie logo came with the Mark IV, so I'd guess those cabs are the newer ones.

I'm exhaggerating a little, but it's a heavy freaking 1x12. I had a Boogie Thiele cab with the EVM 12L a long time ago and I always thought it was kinda dark until you got turned up pretty loud, so in this cab I've got a 12S instead. It's a little brighter and more responsive at lower volumes. I read somewhere that the S was designed as a lead guitar speaker whereas the M was more of a sound reinforcement speaker that turned out to be great for guitar at high volumes. I dunno, I like the S quite a bit though, makes a great practice cab and inpromptu stool. Still handles 200w.

I go back and forth with the back on and off, depends what I'm playing, but it's only a 2 minute operation to take it off. I've been using it with a GK 250ML at home for practice. Soon I will get a real practice amp, haven't decided what yet.
