. I bought it to resell off Ebay, becuase the seller had one lousy picture which you couldnt tell much at all about the amp and also said nothing except basically that it worked, so I just trusted my judgement about it and gambled and plucked it off Ebay at a good price for waht they are usually selling for in nice condition I think. today i was pleasantly surprised.
It came by Fed Ex today not packed that well, the tubes were left in, and it wasnt double boxed and a few sides were not that well insulated, but it was undamaged which is a minor miracle. I plugged it Its all original, cause I was sweating out that one of the Transformers might have been replaced, and it fired right up and sounded good . Npo markings on the two EEL34's, however even though they arent Mullards which I was hopeing for of course, they do look to be old stock tubes, so thats a plus . The tolex is a bit dirty , but the tolex is entirely intact and in very nice shape, so I will clean it up. I will replace those funky big knobs with something more reasonable and rob the Sound City faceplate off my L120 to put on the front. Then I'll have my buddy do a Cap job, and check it out and put a three prong cord on it, and then take a zillion nice deatailed pictures and provide an excellent description with assurances for packaging integrity and that that amp will be 100% operational and in the condition as described in my auction.
I'm hopeing to make a few bucks off it.
One thing im hopeing Guy Who Invented Fire would tell me, is if the Caps on top( the red CLC's) are the original caps.
Also, it has a problame when the sensitivity is switched on high and the standby switch is engaged- its makes a instant pffft-whirr generator winding type noise for a brief moment.Does that sound like a resistor?
This is a quite Sound city Noise-floor wise, but theres also a slight buzz that might be old caps.
