Well this is embarrasing...

I've been messing with several amps lately. Tube, solid, whatever. Anyways, I've got this crate 15w practice amp I've hated for years. I've been listening and taking sound clips. The last amp I've wanted to play on for years is giving me the solo tones I want. I mean I hate this amp for chords or mutings but its giving me killer solo tones with a demon in the neck but also the TZ in the bridge. I think I'm going to give it a whirl with something better than vista's sound recorder. But I'm surprised.

cliffs: crate has excellent lead tone. what??

Hey whatever works for ya man, can't hate on that. I had a marshall mg50 for a while and it had crappy rhythm tone I thought, but the solo tone wasn't bad. I think the phenomenon here is that a lot of smaller watt ss amps are really fizzy and are very articulate for chord voicings or rythm, but sound decent for soloing at least.
