...what a friggin' BLAST we had...we tore that joint up..heheh...didn't hurt that the place we played at has a 50,000 watt PA system..so now I'm spoiled =)

I couldn't be any happier with how my amp sounded..at first I was concerned cause the sound guy hooked it up through a direct box...no mic on the cabinet..but once I did sound check I was like 'sorry to have doubted you, sir'...lol...

and, to keep this somewhat on topic, the JB in my lynch sounded great, as usual =)

yeah, we had a few minor screw ups, but hey, first 'big' gig..what're ya gonna do =)

the sound guy records all the shows..so I'm going to see if I can get my hands on the recording and then maybe post some clips =)

agreed =) now I won't be nearly as nervous next time we play out..

it's funny..I was nervous all day, then after soundcheck I couldn't wait for the first band to get their set done so I could get up there..lol

After 28 years onstage, I still have a little bit of stagefright. I just learned how to rechannel it into creative energy. Congrats on the first gig!

heh, does sound like overkill huh? lol...

i used my b-52..any doubts I had about that amp were quickly squashed as soon as I started to noodle around during soundcheck =) I'm looking into direct boxes as we speak..i couldn't argue with the results the guy got...I'm still grinning like an idiot..lol

I remember my first paid gig, I was the only guitarist and I was so nervous I was sweating bullets. A friend said "use your nervous energy to lift you up like a butterfly" (I prefer an eagle ). Sounds like hippie new age crap, but it helped me to use the energy in a positive way.

Gotta love the PA. I guess you can compare it to leaving high school and moving on to college/uni. It's strange that a lot of guys who never get out of the garage, would really benefit from playing through a decent PA at least a few times. It pretty much shows you that you don't have to be a guitar monster to play up on stage, just preparred.

I found it inspired me while I was playing to hear myself as big as my fav records. I'm still a bit nervous but also excited knowing I've got my parts down and the other guys will probably make as many mistakes as me. I love how I sound through decent PA's.

Did you manage to get a few people on your side of the stage? I tell ya, I like watching some of the drunk guys go nuts. Did you play within yourself, you know, just stand there and kind of seperate yourself from the music and make it about verse, chourus, verse, bridge, solo, chorus, right next song. Or did you let yourself go and let the rock take you with it ?

I know that because the PA sounded so damn good that I played that much better for it...best tone I've EVER had...bar none...

I tried to have fun with it..I moved around, banged my head, chugged away..stepped up a couple times when I played some leads and whatnot...especially Mrs. Robinson which has a lead in it that I'm particularly proud of =) I don't have a wireless so I didn't wanna get too crazy and trip over a cord and rip it outta my amp or anything...lol...

but I definetly had fun...like I was saying, I was nervous all day..when we got there I couldn't sit...I was just pacing like a nervous tiger in a zoo...smoking like a fiend...but after soundcheck, I got all kinds of hyped up and couldn't wait to get the hell up and play....I didn't wanna even stop noodling around during sound check..I was just up there, flailing away..lol

I would always get very nervous before a gig. Then I'd always be fine about half-way through the first song though. We always would start with an easy tune to get everyone all warmed up.

we started off with one of our most difficult songs..Jet's Cold Hard Bitch..it' s not that it's hard to play, technically..but there's a few changes with an odd number of measures that would always screw us up when synching everything together...and we played it pretty tight...so it was nice to get that frickin' one outta the way...lol...

I'm definetly buying a direct box now though...going to guitar center tomorrow..I do have a gift certificate after all and I can use it to go through my guitar player's PA or a house PA if it sounds any good..can always fall back on the mic, but I figure it's something good to have...

will do...might have to wait awhile though..we're playing a party at my band mate's neighbor's house in a couple weeks...which will be our drummer's last gig..he's leaving to join his brother's original gig =( so we're hunting for another drummer....
