Went to Centre City Music today (lots of Gibson pics)

Made my monthly trip to San Diego for a business meeting and like always, I gotta go play looky-lou at my favorite Gibson shop. I almost didn’t go as I’m not in the market for any guitars. When I got there, I was smitten with a bright white LP studio of all things, but in the end, it was a killer SG 61RI that pick pocketed me (pictured below). I also took a pic of Saul himself this time since some people have asked what he looks like. Somehow he wasn’t buying it when I told him he’d sell more guitars if he posed in his chonies. Anyway, lots of pics in the link below, enjoy.

$1500 shipped. Its been modded though. Even so, that's pretty good for an historic I think.

It now has CTS pots, Orange Drop caps, uncovered 57 Classic Plus and Classic, and I removed the trem and added a lightweight aged TonePros locking stop bar. Then put the trem back on this morning. It's easy to swap back and forth.

that 61 is a beaut.

i doubt you'd remember cause it was a million years ago, but i nearly bought a '61ri SG from there on your recommendation back in the day. ended up waiting for my explorer though. im glad i did...but i still want a **** SG. haha

You know... your Explorer then got me GASsing for an Explorer, too... basically, I still wana own a black Explorer with a black pickguard someday... we'll see.

So, if you're selling the SG, what new toy are you jonesing for? It's got to be one of those!

I bought the 61RI above, don't need two SG's right now. Out with the old, in with the new. Price reflects the mods, $1500 out the door is new SG standard sticker pricing. For an aged historic? I think that's pretty good. But some people don't like mods like that so we'll see.
