What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

Broke

New member
I just sold 2 Les Pauls so that I might pick up a nice flamed R9 and this might be it but I am still $3000 short. Darn it!!! I am tempted to bid anyways. The 2001 - 2003 Brazilian R9's are said to be the closest reproductions of a 1959 original ever built from the Gibson Custom Shop.

If the flame on this baby is any indication I'd say that statement is true. Also the braziian board just takes this guitar over the top. But man $9000 or whatever it takes to win the auction is a lot of serious $$$$.

Would you buy it if you had the cash????

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

na i'd buy a new one..... i could care less that the new ones are a different Rosewood board... but it is a nice LP.....

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

Thats a really nice top!

I'm not sure how much difference Brazillian Rosewood makes for the fretboard tonewise, but on accoustics, Brazillian back and sides make a HUGE difference.

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

I'd buy it if I had the cash...and a really good divorce lawyer!

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

That is an absolutely gorgeous LP for sure. I dunno about paying 9 large for it tho. You sold two other nice lps and still have to put uf 3 grand, that's a ton of money for a guitar. If I payed that much for a guitar I'd be scared to even play the thing, I'd have to baby the crap out of it and it would sit in it's case mostly. I say if you really love the guitar and can afford it, go for it its your money after all not mine.

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

Brazilian boards do make a difference tonally but not $3000 worth. Collectors go gaga over the boards because Gibson stopped producing them. So if you want to collect a Gibson a R9 with a Brazlian board is the bomb more so then a Murphy aged one.

I think I might pass on this one though I am not a Gibson Collector and I will end up messing up the guitar with a lot of playing time...Jay aged!

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

IMO, you deserve to be biatch slapped for spending that much on any guitar! :smack:

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

way too expensive, and i gotta say i'm starting to dislike flametops. the '58 plain tops are so much nicer omg want one right now!!!

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

There's a guy on this forum with a way nicer looking R9. I forget what his name is.

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

it's sick! but I would only spend that much cheese on one guitar if you are a true collector or planning on going into buying & selling high dollar instruments for profit. Even then with my limited knowledge of collectors gibsons though that price seems a bit steep!

and just for a little hit of reality... i would NEVER spend 9k on a guitar i didn't get to rub my nards on first.. just to make sure it felt "right". ;)

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

I wouldn't buy it. I wouldn't spend $9000 on a guitar. The most I would spend on a guitar is $1500.

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

I'd never spend that much on a single guitar, unless I was filthy rich... sorry... it's still just a guitar in my eyes...

Re: What a beautiful Les Paul!!!!

Beautiful for sure, but I'd spend $9000 on a FEW dream amps before I'd ever drop that kind of scratch on a single guitar.
