OMG! That is lovely...
And while I do love a Les Paul, and that is a Les Paul to Llove, 9k....It would have to pass the Booby test. and even then I doubt I'd go past 5k. And I would be an idiot for doing that.
Get 10 Tokais, some edwards, and an Agile or two....

Me too - I used to lust after them but now I think they're a bit garish and a nice plain top is way classier.
Still, it's a lovely guitar and I wouldn't say no...my bank manager and wife would do that for me.

I love a nice flametop and that is a beautiful guitar. A lot of the feeding frenzy on those guitars has been fed by the kind of guys that hang out on the LPF, working up the prices on those guitars and re-selling them on Ebay. While doctors and lawyers may be into spending twice the money for a guitar like that, it sure isn't my style to throw away money on a looker, even if she is a player.
Get real, you can buy a 1958 Byrdland with real PAFs for that kind of scratch.

the flame on that one is beautiful! hmmmm I do have the cash in my 401k, maybe i could cash in ,buy it,retire and sit on my front porch in a rocking chair

I know...I know, I am passing I must have been nuts to even consider it. It don't matter though the guy ended the listing. some guy must have bought it for serious $$$$ (maybe $11,000) or he decided not to sell it.
One thing though, if you bought that thing you could always sell it and get your money back. But you would have to baby it. I still can't justify $9-11 K for a guiitar. Les Pauls are ridiculous.

That is way too much money! I have seen 2003 murphy's going for less than that and un aged 2003 BRAZ going for 7500 or so, and brazillian has no effect on tone at all, but it does have an effect on feel and it is period correct, but come on thats crazy money for that guitar.

I can't see spending half that much on any solid-body guitar unless I just had money to burn.
Certain acoustics (jazz archtop maybe?), on the other hand, might be worth it... The tone quality could be that much better.

spending that much on something that isn't a custom instrument - one where you specify every detail, and the money goes to a private luthier to feed his family for a few months...is pretty insane unless $9k to you is like $5 to me.
good thing we don't play cello, then you'd see high prices.

I currently own 3 guitars with Brazillian fingerboards... I don't believe the feel to be any different than the Indian rosewood that Gibson's been using for the past 45 years or so. FWIW, my favorite feeling and sounding guitar is my 01 R8 without a Brazillian board.

Hey guys, the question was IF you had the cash. This means you have extra money and it is not gonna hurt you, financially and domestically. When was the last time anyone played a brazilian Les Paul as beautiful as the one pictured? They are pretty rare and that is the going price right now and it is probably going to go up in the future. Why? Cause there are plenty of rich collectors that want these guitars. You think $9k is crazy? People are paying $100-200K for vintage 1959's.
I don't know if you guys notice but, there were always 2-3 Les Paul Brazilian boards listed on ebay a few years back. Now there are none. They are rare and evryone is hanging onto them.
Now, would you play it hard and let it get beat up? That is another question? Remeber you had the cash to burn. But would you let it get beat up? I would play it till it died.
Now I am not that rich and it would affect me financially so I am passing. But IF I had the cash I WOULD get one. Buying on ebay is risky but a Brazilian board R9 is the pride of the custom shop and if she weighs in at 8.8 lbs, she probably sounds exceptional. But I am not willing to sell anymore gear to get it. Looks great but NO WAY would I spend that much on a Les Paul. It is just a Les Paul..... 3K and under (more like 2K) will buy you a very very nice one. You wouldn't take something like that out and gig with it.

the 'brazilian' part just seems like bragging rights if you can't tell from looking, or listening. it just looks like an average common LP to me- same color/flame as 1000s of other people get. Even if I had the money, that might be a silly way to spend it.
