I recently put an alnico II pro and a CC in my axe (telecaster model) but they sound completely different then I thought. the alnico sounds to dark and the CC has too much mids (although I like mids). So I 'm thinking of putting the original JB in it, but what should I put in the neck? I know the 59 is a classic answer, but will it fulfill my needs. I want to have some chunky palmmutes like metallica , but I also want a long sustain (like slash), the alnico doesn't have the chunky palmmute I want.
any advice?

update: I did some research and found that the jazz and 59 are not a bad choice,
I also have been looking through previous posts about this topic but still have difficulties choosing.
the 59 sounds warm but can I get decent palmmutes with it? (is it less boomy than the aphII?)

Are you sure you want to get chunky palm mutes with a neck pickup? Sounds strange and uncommon to me. Or did you have a2pro in the bridge and cc in the neck? Now you're planning to put JB in the neck?

maybe I got the concept wrong cuz I recently read that you should use the bridge for rythm, I always used the neck :blackeye:
but indeed I 'm planning on putting a JB in the bridge (it was in the guitar when I bought it but decided tot try he CC)
maybe with this revelation of using a bridge for rythm I can keep the APH in cuz it sounds good for solo but not for rythm :smack:
would the APH go together with a JB?

I'm sure that A2Pro and JB will get along well. JB is an excellent rhythm pickup definitely capable of "chugga chugga".

The crunchy chugga chugga is only going to come from that bridge pup. Heavy palm mutes on any neck pickup is going to be bassy and muddy. Has little to do with the pickup model.

Slash's lead tone is pretty straight forward, too. A PAF style humbucker in the neck position will get you in the ballpark. Sadly, without his left hand, you'll never be in the right seat though. That said, a 59 or a a2p would be worth putting money on. Both should match up well with the JB should you decide to go that rout.

one last question ( if I ask more of these stupid questions you 're probably gonna lynch me :newangel: ) : the APH has a rather low output and the JB a rather high output, is this going to cause trouble?

You can always adjust pickup height to get volume even.

That too is always a matter of taste, some prefer neck pickups to be a bit lower output so they can clean the signal more easily. I wouldn't worry about it.
