What amp could this be ?

So my local store that deal w used gear phoned me today, just before they closed, to tell me about an amp they got in.
Needless to say, i had no time to get there.
When asked what amp it was, they told me this : (so maybe someone can ID this amp)

Amp has no name that they could see.

* 1x12 combo with old Jensen speaker.
* Faded red and cream tolex. 2/3 cream, and 1/3 red. Almost like a racing stripe.
* 2x 6v6 valves, w a rectifier valve.
* Massive trannies.
* Two inputs on the far left, and two inputs on the far right.
* Top mounted knobs. (all three of them)
* One knob for instrument vol.
* One Tone knob in the middle.
* One knob for microphone/voice.
* Oval sticker on the back saying, "Jensen".
* Open back amp.
* Could be either a 70's or 60's amp - they think !


OK, so i am going there 1st thing Monday morning to see what it is and to take some pics for this post . . . just thought that you guys might know an older amp that match these descriptions.

That is what i thought too (hoping for more like it), but they did say there is no indication of a name plate that fell off, or any other indication that there ever was a logo on there.
Can't wait for Monday :D

Not always...I've got a 1960 Ampeg Jet with a pair of 6V6's...puts out 11 watts before clip. I've seen amps with a pair of 6V6's run between around 8 watts and as much as say 22.

As for what the amp is...it could be anything but FWIW, I've never seen a factory Gibson amp with any red tolex that I can recall...

My '65 Princeton is 2 6v6 powered and I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it's 20 watts. Might be though.

Is the "Tolex" red or brown? Might be a Gibson GA-20. Great amps.

Plug your guitar into the microphone input - not the instrument input.

Much hotter channel!

No idea to be honest.
I will go with camera tomorrow and snap a few pic's and post by tomorrow evening !

So i pluged it in, and ermmmm, the Blues Jr that was there, KILLED it volume wise.
The tone is dark and w the tone knob at noon.
Tone at 7 o'clock sounds like you zipped the amp in sub-zero 900 down sleeping bag.
Only from noon does it sound 'good', with a real nice tone at 3 o'clock.
And i am a HUGE bass-knob fan, so keep that in mind.
(sounded much better with a Squire Tele)
I jumped both channels and there is truely a minimal diff, between jumping them, and just using either one of the channels by themselves.
The Instrument channel barely has any more gain than the guitar channel, and is slightly, but minimal, brighter than the guitar channel.

It is NOT a clean amp, and does get dirty, but not a type of dirt i have ever heard.
Much more grittier than a maxed Deluxe Reverb (also 6V6), but like i said, even the BJr killed it, for max vol.
GREAT dirty bedroom garage blues amp, but probably better left at home, if you want to gig.
