What amp is Wes Montgomery using?

I KNOW!!!


That was Standel Super Custom XV which was made in the middle 60's!

It's 70 watts, solid state and has a JBL speaker in it, or at least it came with one.

Its amazing that he does those little mini-shredding runs with just his thumb. It looks like he's strumming chords, but he's hitting notes. Amazing. :bowdown:

Yeah...Wes was something else. For my money, at his best, he had the best tone of any of the hollowbody jazz guitarists. And he did it all with his thumb.

Thanks for posting this thread!! Hopefully some of our younger shred-meisters can appreciate what I believe to be the tastiest guitarrist of the 20th century!
Taking nothing away from EVH, Malmsteen and the ilk..... but Wes just had a way to turn a phrase.
His backup ensemble wasn't too shabby here either!!!!
If you get the chance check out his version if Impresions on this same site.
His use of Octaves is pretty awesome!!!

Ya, Wes was one of the best. I have some his recordings they are great.
