What Amplifier?

Gives you the sweet, round, thick, creamy, saturated leads that we all dream about. Thick, ballsy overdrive, but the kind of clarity, smoothness, and sustain that makes the notes drip out of the speaker.

POD? wtf lol how dare you!

I would say you can get a nice overdrive out of any amp, it just depends on the dialing in of the settings... we are talking about tube of course

is Cornford all that good?

JTM45 or bluesbreaker w/ kt66's. IMO, one of the smoothest amps for a rich overdrive.

+1, that's why I love my Fargen so much. The distortion is thick, smooth, I can set it to be kind of dark and it's really rich. The compression is sweet too!

It still doesn't do my ideal leads though (which is Steve Vai's lead tone on "Die to Live")... I'm currently trying to nail it with the clean boost of my Pro Analog Dual Drive and am improving.

for thick, ballsy overdrivre, nothing beats a randall

Re: What Amplifier?

That's a pretty broad description, there are lots of amps I can think of that meet that criteria. My modded Classic 50 has those attributes, it's perfect for a wide variety of styles. It's my favorite classic rock/blues amp.
