What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

Hey guys! I've finally got my Ibanez JS1000BP up and running perfectly. It just had a bad setup, and it stays in tune great! I just got it back this past saturday, and I've already ran the strings into the ground lol. They're ernie ball 9's. Can anyone suggest a string brand that has a nice life span? I use Custom Elixers on my accoustic, with that chemical coating, do they make those strings for electrics/ Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah, they do make Elixr's for electrics, I've never tried them, but if you use the acoustic ones I'm guessing you have an idea about what they are like already.

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

YOu might want to try the Deaddario EXP strings. They have a coating on them as well. I use D'Adarrio on my electrics as well as my acoustics. I would also suggest using a heavier gauge. You will get longer life out of a heavier string. Much of the brand you use will have to do with how the strings react to "YOUR" hands. Some people have a body chemistry that will cause certain brands of strings to go dead faster than others. Experiment and see what works best for you. If you do change gauge your guitar should be set up for that gauge. Good Luck!!

I've never tried the coated strings. Just seems like it's got to dampen the vibrations in some way so I've never tried them. DR strings seem to last a long long time. I just use regular D'Adarios and change them when I notice that I need to. Lew

personally, dr strings last the longest for me considering i have pretty acidic body fluids.

Yes, I think DR's are the best. I think they sound the best too: Truer and Deeper and perhaps more in tune. But they are expensive and I don't know that they last twice as long as D'Adarios...though maybe they do!

I'm just like you Lew with my strings,I Like the D'Addario EXLs and DR Pure Blues or Tite Fits...

On one of my brighter Teles,I use GHS Nickel Rockers..

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

For 9's, I do like the feel and sound of D'Addario's, but they don't seem to last long. DR's last longer, but I'm more used to the feel of D'Addario's.

I recently tried a pair of Roto Yellow strings, 10's, for $4.95 at Sam Ash and they sound great. I think they are pure nickel and they really brought my GMP Les Paul style guitar to life. They seem to last, too. I couldn't find them online to order in the states. They seem to be more popular in Europe. Check them out if you get a chance.

I would stay with the same guage strings you are used too. If you like the way your guitar is currently set-up stick with the same guage.

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

dean markleys standard, not the blue steels - tite 'n bright.

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

Everly B-52s. Damn good strings that last a long time. Endorsed by Tom Petty.

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

Of the strings I've tried so far I have liked DR Blues .10 and GHS Boomers .10s. I did not like Fender Bullet 9s or Ernie Ball Super Slinky .10s. Next strings I'm getting are D'addario .11s

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

i play a s***load and am too lazy to wipe my strings, so i need ones that last long. so i usually go with elixr .10s and those work out pretty good. now ive been using Everly B-52s they last a good amount of time but not long enough for me so next set im going back to them elixrs!

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

Hey Lew are ya listening? LOL....

Walmart of all places, had GHS Boomers for $3.84.....Is GHS desperate or what?

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

I Never use anything but Diadarrio 11s. They last long enough for me.

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

Of all the strings ive tried dean markley blue steels have been the most reistant to corrosion. There what i use.

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

Who makes the DR strings? I've had a few people recommend them to me lately, and I'm not familiar with them.

In years past I've used alot of Boomers, D'addario's , Ernie Ball, and Dean Markley strings: I always preferred the Markley's for longevity.

Ditto. I just wish my local shop carried them in 10-52. :blackeye:

Re: What are spme good electric strings with a long life span?

I always use regular D'addario XL's, .009-.042 and clean them after every play session. So far the guitar I play most has had the same set on it for about 3 months now and it's time for a change not cuz they're gritty but just because they're starting to not hold a tuning well so time for a change. I love those strings. I did try Dean Markleys once and I didn't like the sound as much but MAN they lasted a long-ass time.

Considering how much trouble you've had with this Ibanez I'd stick with the same guage for now and make sure you read up on methods to avoid hassle while changing strings. ;)
