what are the stock pups in a Epiphone Les Paul Standard

Re: what are the stock pups in a Epiphone Les Paul Standard

I have a 2008 Epiphone Les Paul Standard made in Indonesia. It came stock with two Epiphone humbuckers called "HOTCH" (bridge) and "57CH" (neck). Since both names contain CH they might more appropriately be called HOT and 57. Anyway, the specs on them are:

HOT: 14 kOhm DC resistance, 8.7 H inductance, 105 pF capacitance. Resonant frequency 6500 Hz (measured unconnected, although only 5300 Hz theoretically).

57: 8.6 kOhm DC resistance, 5.1 H inductance, 125 pF capacitance. Resonant frequency 8400 Hz (measured unconnected, although only 6300 Hz theoretically).

Both are only one-connector + shield. Supposedly "alnico classic magnets", "enamel wire". They seem to have a fairly low resonance peak height (being covered is part of the reason) - making them a bit undistinct and not so "sparkly" even though they have a high resonance peak frequency unconnected.

You're treating these specs as if they were decent PU's. The questionable materials & inconsistent manufacturing make any specs here useless.

Well sorry. I meant to say what mine are. I don't know the tolerances or how inconsistent the manufacturing are - but it should be in the ballpark anyway for Epi's with the same PUs.

I liked the sound of my Epi Black Beauty's pups. But they would feed back something chronic under any volume. They were totally unusable in a band situation. My pal's Epi LP Standard had the exact same issue.

And that's with a half pound of wax in them! So much for the benefits of over-potting.
