I write the drum part in Cubase Drum Editor, and use Drumkit From Hell as a VST plugin for the audio. It's easy to use, but you will still need to know the basics of rhythm, like time signatures and the difference between different types of triplets ...

I've got away with using loops so far, I'm just concerned about when it comes to recording my songs/albums properly that I won't be able to just throw down any old loop and make it interesting. I guess it's probably the easiest option though - I'll have to go and dig out that CD of recorded loops that came with my DAW!

Sure, if I were recording an actual album, I'd just have my drummer do it for me.. But I'm not planning on doing that at home, so loops are easy for e and lt lests me concentrate on guitar playing. I mean isn't one instrument hard enough to play much less having to program complete drum tracks? No thanks,, LOL.. But If I need something in 12/8, 7/8 or something weird I'll program it in fruity loops if necesarry, but Cakewalk lets me do it anyway, so I don't even need to do that anymore.

For the guy who said the betamonkey loops are off time... I have 2 different collections and they time sync perfectly in Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3. If your using Cubase you need to fix its internal clock and quantize function cause it just plain sucks in the default settings...
