What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

I have focused in on my musical vision, have you? How So? Any insights or posts are appreciated What was your gear acquisition like in 2012? 2013I mean, it would be nice to have tons of gear for all different styles. But, all gear is somewhat versatile, so there is that. But not versatile for every style under the sun!

My musical vision was to get a combo amp and a fender strat and use it for regular tuning for impromptu jam sessions at open mike nights. Combos are lightweight, and strats have springs that can be taken out for easy action, which I like, because I am used to easy action since I always downtune to c#, except for one band.

So, my musical insights and perspectives have changed. Adam's thread really pushed me to make giant stacks for stage presence and maybe even to pressurize the stage more, since I play downtuned heavy metal doom music, which is not super popular or anything, so it is good to still have portability. my gear acquisitions are closing for the end of 2012, since tis' the season for deals and stuff. Here is my "Santa's realistic list":

1) finished my bass amp stack - just got my 8x10" stack
2) gonna get another 212PPC Orange cab to match mine to make a half stack
3) put neodymiums in the guitar cabs so they are lightweight
4) get a portable backup, the EHX magnum 44

way back burner, after a few years of savings

5) portable combo amp and fender

what are your GAS priorities, thoughts, etc??? 2012 list? 2013 wish list? :scratchch:approve:

I don't know.

1.) I haven't bought a new guitar in six years. Maybe a Telecaster? Real vintage style, except maybe for the fretboard radius. Or a Strat, along the same lines.
2.) Another pedal tuner. Maybe a Polytune.
3.) A wah pedal. Something cool looking -- copper, chrome, etc.
4.) A really thick fuzz. Maybe a Foxx Tone Machine.
5.) Maybe a single-pickup San Dimas style something or other.

Yeah, I got all of that this year. I only have ten of these pedals at the moment, but the point is there's a lot of stuff that's been through these hands. I've one more pedal to acquire before my board is finished - an Infanem Faye Sing phaser. After that, I hope to cut back my modulation pedal purchases completely, as the ones I have now are excellent, and taper back my drive/fuzz purchases to no more than a few each year. It's always good to have different flavors that you can swap out.

Anyway, I'm hoping next year will be more moderate. I'd like to get a Avatar 1x12 cab to match my Bassman, a nice case for my custom guitar, and get some work done on both of my guitars to get them in tip top shape. Other than that, it should be an easy year.

I'd actually like to get rid of four or five guitars and maybe a few amps this year, and do projects with some other guitars that I have, not get much new. I would like a backup for my 330, and I might get a G&L Ascari GTS at some point. And I am sure I will build at least two or three things, probably Fender-like. I also want to finish one of the guitars I started years ago and set aside. It's sort of a cross between an SG and a Musicmaster. All mahogany, set neck, 24.5 inch scale. It's already glued together. I need to install the frets and all the other odds and ends. Oh; I want to refinish my nylon string AMI parlor guitar too.

Just picked up my 2013 stuff a little early.

Downsized massively to a Vox AC15 HW amp.....would need to do some big gigs to need anything more - I'm of the low/mid drive school so 100W is for Madison Sq Gardens

If my economy allows tho, this is the list of "wants" for 2013:

There's also some minor stuff not really worth listing that I'm planning on buying, like a Visual Sound 1spot bundle, a new strap for my Hagström 12-string and such.

I have not bought a guitar in several years. I sold my vintage Marshall 4x12's in Jan 2012 and replaced them with top shelf 2x12's. I designed and just finished building an ISO cab this year. I still need to test it in the studio. 2013 will likely be a transition for the pedal board. I am building a large new board to accommodate recording needs. I am also planning to replace several pedals with units I will be building.

Still on the lookout for a couple of mega gain distortion pedals. The problem with people on the internet is that they have no idea what gain is and they'll always say that a pedal has more than enough and it really doesn't. :banghead:


Might build a pedalboard or two one of these days.

2013 might be DIY year for me... a couple pedals and some kinda tweed build. So my priorities will be books and kits for a bit.

slightly longer term though... I'd love to have one of those modern Orange OR50 heads.

I still need to do something about my bass situation. I like bass sounds really bombastic and growling. The Stingray isn't bad but not quite there. A Thunderbird might be in the cards, or a Thunderbird like Carvin build. Probably depends on the year end bonus outcome.

I had a decent year. I got my MXR Custom Badass Overdrive, Joyo Sweet Baby, MXR Dyna Comp, Cool Cat Tremolo, an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI, and some new pickups for my strat.

For 2013, I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to get, but I have a feeling I'll only accomplish a little bit of it. Here's my list (in order of priority):

Mooer Trelicopter
K&K Pickup for my acoustic
LR Baggs Venue DI
Mesa Lonestar Special
Tele build w/ a mini-hum in the neck

The tele build might happen sooner, if I find a good deal on a body on Ebay, and I'd like to get an MXR Micro Flanger at some point, but that's not as big of a deal.

Oh yah, in 2012 I also got my black arts toneworks pharaoh fuzz. not sure how soon all my 2013 gear priorities will be realized though. Better to save up.

Just sold my Marshall Jcm 900 dual reverb 4500 to guitar center used gear expo today for $400 cash. sold a cab this week too. Gotta test out my brand new gear to make sure it works and then I will post a thread on it, I need to bask in the glow of mondo tone :beerchug:

I think I am gonna save for all 4 things I want before I get them all. also, guitarcenter is getting back to me about if their eminence tonkerlites are 8ohms or 16ohms and they have a noreturnpolicy on those.
