What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

Hmmm...good question

LP Jr or '56 LP for a good P90 guitar(I know, totally different tonal character in the two guitars....it's all about the P90's)
Tele
2x12 cab with G12h30/Blue

Hmm.. 2013..
I think I'll go for a fender deluxe reverb reissue.. and a speaker swap perhaps a weber?

I'm really interested on one of those ESP original series M-II, but they're quite expensive, and only available in japan.

New PC (or Mac), of course..

and maybe a classical acoustic of some sort

A bass and then a bass amp, maybe a combo, maybe a head/cab setup.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

They're making them with 1 5/8" thickness bodies now. No way to upgrade the bridge to a full block. A lot of them are coming S/S/S routed only too.

The bridge can't be replaced on them unless you go to a top loader as the string through ferrules are staggered.

Also, both of them have 2 1/4" neck pockets, meaning you can't replace the neck with a Fender style one.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

actually, the next thing i'm buying for sure is a middle humbucker for this hooker. i'd considered it for a long time and finally decided to go for it. people discouraged me from doing it, but eff them. my hands are so big, i've been hitting the neck pickup with the pick my whole life. i love the sound of a middle humbucker, especially combined with a neck or bridge... page style. either going with a BB2 or PGb.

since it has a blade switch anyway, i'm installing a 5 way and wiring it like a strat with a push pull to keep the bridge pickup on no matter where the switch is. that way i can have all 7 pup combos.

I need to buy all the hardware for my dad's 5 string bass build. It's really ****ing expensive, though - I think $377 for the stuff I need (bridge, tuners, pickguard, pickups...).

5 string stuff is hella expensive.

Luckily, it will be all good stuff, since there aren't a lot of cheap-o 5 string parts to tempt me.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

you'll forget about the price of good hardware long before you would forget about the crappiness of cheap hardware.

If you were tempted to get cheap stuff, buy a cheap 5 string bass and part it out. You may end up getting the parts for nothing.

Just to get my jtm 30 back from a tune up, maybe off load some amps. If I was smart I'd off load some axes and get me some of these on sale Gibsons. But I'm not known for my smarts.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

A Marshall DSL 100H Amplifier, and a Gretsch Country Gentleman. Then I'll be broke for the rest of the year.....

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

I'd love an open-back 1x12 cab with a smooth sounding speaker in it to compliment my closed-back Orange w/V30.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

Plans for 2013

Blackstar HT-40 Club Combo
Put the EMG 81/60 in my mid price Ibanez Rga, tune it lower to D Standard
Complete the whole setup of other two guitars, one acoustic, one electric
Get some good patch cables for pedalboard
Built some better pedalboard
Get some other lower wattage tube amp head, about 5 watts of valve power for home use, two is better than one..
Maybe sell some retired equipment
Wah-wah pedal

And maybe to buy some higher priced Jackson Soloist or Esp/Ltd guitar ...

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

I need to get the pickups for my Strat sorted out and a new bridge humbucker for my Schecter but honestly I'm really content with what I have. Wouldn't mind a nicer acoustic but that's not really a priority right now.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

This year, there are a few things I'd really like to get.

I'd love a nicer modelling rig for home. I was originally thinking Axe2, but the Kemper has won out because I'd be able to profile my own gigging rigs to use at home... and the recording possibilities from there are too tempting to ignore.

I don't really need any more guitars, but I still have a set of very special SD custom shop humbuckers from Lew that I'd really like to put into an HH Tele project.

Pedal-wise, I need a nice volume pedal, tremolo, fuzz, and octave/fuzz... And I'll probably sell my EH Memory Man w/ Hazarai for an SD Deja Vu.

I had a Kemper, ended up selling it. It's great for what it does, and it will probably work for you - it profiles *your* rig. When you're plugging into other people's profiled rigs, the more you tweak, the more sterile it sounds. I found a handful of decent sounding profiles and VK got a bunch of paid for ones included with his and bought some more, but I couldn't see spending $1800 on the Kemper and then paying for more profiles. I'm currently using a mix of outboard pedals and Revalver and finding some great tones that way. If I had the money to spare, I'd probably check out the Axe 2, but that's because it's geared more towards the way I work.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

Ceriatone Dizzy Cat! ATM leaning towards the head but still might go 2x12 instead.
Once thats complete I'll finally have a full rig.. It'll be the Dizzy Cat, into a custom junction box to give my RC50 its own footswitchable loop, then in the other loop I'll have my ODS (Rawkworks Bluesbreaker/Klone combo, and a Joyo Sweet Honey OD) and M5, in the effects loop i'll have the Timefactor and supernatural reverb. All those into my 2 partsocasters!

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

Planning on buying a Blackstar HT5r combo after my friend sells my Marshall on ebay for me.

I'm also planning to make a few mods to my PRS, like new tuners and a graphite nut, and hopefully new pickups.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

I don't think I actually need anything for the near future. I'm very happy with my rig as is. It does everything I need it to, from vintage to brootal, and I have pretty much everything I need to record as well.

If anything I might get a bass guitar and maybe a small bass practice amp.

Re: What are your next gear acquisition priorities for your future gear? 2013?

I plan on getting the new Xotic SP Compressor or a Wampler Ego Comp, a Wampler Paisely drive, some sort of mini boost pedal to bump my volume for solos, and maybe try a fuzz pedal or two. And I could always use another Les Paul...... ;)
