At the suggestion of some forum members last year (hence my old thread a little below), I got a set of Heavy Core strings, 11-50. I also got a single .060 because I was going to put them on a seven string. Since then, life got nuts, never used the seven, and I really don't have much time or desire to try and master it...so! I have an original era Epiphone Genesis that I want to use the set on. I'd like to tune down to D/drop C or even drop B. Will the strings out of the box be okay or should I can the high E, use the 14 as the high string, and put the .060 as the low string? If the answer is option 2, can the nut handle this in stock form? Right up front, I don't want to file the nut or swap it out or anything. I'm open to buying a new set, but of course would rather use these because I already have them. Thanks bros. Probably gonna get to this either later tonight or tomorrow...if the wife doesn't piss me off to the point of just wanting to sit and stare at the wall like Jack Nicholson in The Shining like she did today, lol.
