What colors do the new P-Rails come in?

I can't seem to find the information anywhere - in the picture it's black, in the video it's sort of pearly. I suppose they are in white as well. But the question is, will these pickups be available in creme? I would like to put one to the bridge of American Deluxe HSS and it's got creme pickups (SCN) and pickguard. Thanks so much.

Black, in the video it's custom stuff. From custom shop you might be able to get cream plastics.

"Any customer can have it in any color that he wants so long as it is black."
Henry Ford, Seymour Duncan?

We have black tops right now, that's all. But there could be other colors coming in soon. If/when that happens, they may be Shop Floor Customs or full Custom Shop items.

However, as evidenced in the demo video, the tops can be cut from any pickguard plastic, including pearloid, 3-ply cream/black/cream, etc. Whatever someone can supply, we can cut into a top. But that process is very labor intensive. It involves multiple passes on the mill, followed by hand work to trim and shape it. So that would likely be an expensive Custom Shop pickup, but then you could even spec some other details like "make the bridge a little hotter" or whatever. So, in due time you may see us offer something like a cream or white top, but the Custom Shop is capable of doing anything you want.

I'd kind of like to see someone do a colored pickguard (like colored pearloid or tortoise shell, or even metallic sparkle) with matching P-Rails tops, so the pickups kind of disappear into the pickguard. That would be kind of a cool retro thing, sort of over the top but maybe cool anyway.

Thanks for the info. I really do hope other colors will appear soon. IMHO, it's really pointless to have such an pickup just in black - a pickup that will probably be used on various instruments by those wanting extended versatility. As I live in an EU country, it's very difficult for me to get anything from the custom shop... You should follow the example of DiMarzio - offering pups in multiple colors...

I understand your point perfectly. P-Rails are the ultimate in versatile pickups, tonewise. It makes sense to offer them in versatile colours too, you have a good point.

Be aware though, Duncan DO offer a lot of pickups in different colours. I've had Invaders, Custom, Jazz all in red and they come blue and green at least too.

Where did you get them, then? As I say - it's virtually impossible for me to get custom shop items as I live in the EU and due to some strange directive, SD will not ship to EU...

Re: What colors do the new P-Rails come in?

I've seen MANY people asking for a covered version so although a cover is physically impossible perhaps a chrome colored top would be a great addition as well.

Re: What colors do the new P-Rails come in?

Why couldn't the tops be just a plain rectangle with rounded corners? That'd make 'em easier and quicker to make, I'd have thought.

Well, they're not meant to be cut, they're meant to be molded. It's the precise detail of the underside of the cover that makes them labor intensive to make by hand. The cover is very detailed underneath.

As for other colors, with a brand new pickup like this, you always want to gauge the market acceptance before sinking more money into inventory and what not. Remember, P-Rails have only been shipping for less than four months! Give it time. And in the mean time, the Custom Shop is there to handle any requests!

Re: What colors do the new P-Rails come in?

I am glad they are just as they are! I have a freaky 1981 Norlin era Gibson 335-S.

I'm not kidding people...

Neither the pickup cavities, or the plastic rings will accept ANY covered pickup (490R/Tony Iommi Signature/Epi LP)! I had to bend the legs in the P-Rails inwards a few degrees (with padded jaws), to fit the cavity of the P-Rails bridge!

Anyhow, I love the fact that pickups are NOT covered, and have A5's for a more agressive tone over the Hamer spece'd Phat Cat!

:burnout:

My next logical move is the neck model!:smoker:

Ah - and not enough demand (yet) to mould them in different colours?

That makes sense - thanks. :)

I hope they'll appear, that's all. Offering them only in black really makes no sense...

Re: What colors do the new P-Rails come in?

Chrome tops would be nice. Even if it's just chrome finish plastic. But I understand why black was the first choice.

Re: What colors do the new P-Rails come in?

In the meantime I found the picture of the (ESP) LTD Potbelly that comes stock with them.

Black on black works well. White or cream would be nice to see in the future though. With exception of some kind of chrome, nickel or mirror finish any other colors would probably end up limited runs or custom shop unless the P Rail becomes some kind of runaway success.

Hopefully Kisakae puts the P Rails on their mockup generator sometime soon. Doesn't work trying to put a P90 and rail single together.

I don't know - but I'm hoping to find a set in gorgeous Lilac or Rouge or maybe even that stunning Rose Bud Pink with a touch of sultry Mauve and Cinnamon !:usa1:
