What delay pedal would you recommend???

I already have a Fender RI Reverb, my Rivera S120 has a built-in chorus. and I recently got a Boss RT-20 Leslie sim. Play Byrds, Beatles, Pink Floyd, 60s garage band rock, alt-rock and a bit of alt country(R Adams, Wilco). I dabble in Blues and Bluegrass too. I want to get Gilmourish delay sounds among others. What pedal would you recommend?

Hands down get a L6 DL4. Great sounds 3 presets tap tempo and a 14 second looper. Plus you can run it in stereo!! Killer peice!

For the right pedal I might spend 150 to 200, prefer to go used. Tried an Echo Park and had the bad hiss issue so back it went. I am flexible so I might even stretch the budget to the new or used Maxon AD99. Heard good things about that pedal. If I can get a good one for 75 bucks thats good too.

I have a Boss DD20 Gigadelay and I really love that pedal. I also think it's a little better than the DL4's. the control layout isn't quite as simple but i think the tone preservation is better and from what I saw them go through when I worked at GC, the Boss is more durable.

Re: What delay pedal would you recommend???

Line 6 DL4 is awesome, i have one. But if you want something that would probably be even nicer go try out a t-rex Replica Delay :D

I just snatched up an Ibanez DE7 cheap. I just love it. Does the washed out 70s thing really nicely. Beautiful decay. Check out the Ibanez site, his some sound samples.

I was looking at the DD-20 too and I agree the layout is a bit complex. From what I have read it seems to popular with effects junkies for tone, flexiblity and durability.

The Maxon AD999 analog delay is amazing! try to get that one if you can.
I think you can score them for a little over 200 used.

May favorite, which I always use...

Akai E2 Headrush...excellent delays, tape loop sim (the pedal has 4 tape head outs, in addition to mix out), looper (up to 23 seconds!), and tap tempo.

Extremely versitile, and can be bought brand new for $200

Re: What delay pedal would you recommend???

As far as Im concerned, I always thought Gilmour used digital delay pedals to get more radical sounds #1 and #2 to clean up hum from boutique fuzz style pedals. Put a digital pedal at the end of your chain to make it act as a noise suppressor sort of thing. it actually works pretty well too.

Re: What delay pedal would you recommend???

The rocktron short timer can do the kind of delay that you hear on the wall and is reletivly inexpensive.

Re: What delay pedal would you recommend???

i just switched to a Line 6 DL4 and finished up my new board about 1 hour ago. after only about 30min of using it or so i know i like what i've tried so far and it can only get better with some tinkering!! i'd go with that, that's what i did, ditched my old boss and went DL4. granted this is a very fresh review but with the amount of people saying to go with it i think it's a good choice.

i like the echo park, but i use it in between my preamp and power amp. almost no hiss that way.

Re: What delay pedal would you recommend???

I like my DD6, never tried anything else than Boss though.. BTW how do you like your Reverb?
