Re: What did I do wrong??? Pedal Mod question
Since it sounds like the traces or solder pads got lifted, which is a pain, then the only avenue to take is to run a wire from one component leg to the next one in the circuit by following the PCB trace. Basically, connect the dots. The wire can be relatively thin, 22AWG to 24AWG is fine. The key to doing all of this is having the patience to do it and do it right. Also, keep your meter handy to check for continuity.
Don't feel bad that this happened. I've been doing DIY stuff for a few years and I too managed to lift the traces. It happens. You just learn and move on. To help avoid it down the road, turn the heat down a little on the iron, and when doing work like this, get in and get out - meaning get the soldering done quick and pull the heat off, don't let the iron just sit there.
Work one spot at a time, take your time and don't forget to test it after each repair. Make sure the continuity is there.
