hi
i'm a owner of les paul custom korean copy http://www.custom77.com/html/produits-31-0.html.
i want to change the neck pu cos is outer the bridge (a gibson bb pro) it create an absorption of the bridge sound in middle position.
i like the bb pro in bridge and now i need a paf sound in the neck .
i hesitate between a sh1,an alnico 2 pro,or..a bb pro neck maybe.
i'm lookin for this sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9Ujm4HEXGc(not his fingers it's not possible for me:rolleyes:)
the problem is my lp custom than a standart maybe get this blues sound is not possible??

thx in advance

Re: what did you advice me

What you call absorption is probably an out of phase sound. Not all humbucker are wound in the same direction and the orientation of the magnet are not defined either.
Easiest cure: Swap the lead of your stock pickup. Solder the hot to ground and the ground to the hot with your stock pickup. Then adjust the pickups until they create about the same output.
If that works and you want to stay with the stock pickup, the you can flip the magnet to have the right middle (then you have to change the leads back to the original connection, of course).

Re: what did you advice me

thanx for you technical help but i prefer directly change th pu cos i don't like this sound

Well... it's going to be REALLY difficult to tone match that exceptionally good REAL '59 LP going through that Kitty Hawk amp which is a Dumble clone...

The p'ups which would get you the closer are the Seth Lover set. BB Pros are harsh and shrill compared to the Seths.

Or, you could put Alnico 2 magnets into your BB Pros, which have Alnico 5.

HTH,

Re: what did you advice me

tanx but the alnico 2 pro is the slash sound and i'm not a fan of this sound do you mean i could put an alnico 2 with the bb pro bridge will be a good deal

I have a few '59N's (SH1N) and love them. They have an A5 magnet, which makes them a little brighter & better defined than a neck PU with an A2 magnet. The only potential drawback is that some guys say the bass is too strong in some guitars, like an LP. I have them in LP's and don't think it's an issue. I think they sound great in any Gibson-design or mahogany guitar.

A5 magnets are higher output with a lot of treble & bass, with scooped mids and a tight low end. A2 magnets are low output, with strong mids, not much treble, and the low end can sound loose in some woods. Their biggest virtue is that they add a lot of color & character to the tone. Of course, the way a PU is wound also has a lot to do with the way it sounds. Magnets are just one part of the formula.

59 = more bass, more highs, sharper highs - good highs for neck, but too much bass in many Les Pauls

PG = less bass, more upper-mids, smoother highs, right amount of bass, and the upper mids still allow it to cut through with a sweet sounding top. Excellent Les Paul Neck pickup.

Your Les Paul's sound may vary...depends on what it's made of.

Re: what did you advice me

thanx for all your answer .
at the beginning i'm lookin for a "mule" of bare knucles but it's very expensive ,and i thought my guitar is not well enough to have boutique pu.
i 've just read on this forum than few lp users have put the 59b in a neck position cos in 60' gibson pu were the same between bridge and neck did you think it we'll be a good idea for my case
