What distortion pedal should I get

brisk

I have OD pedals but I don't have distortion pedal (and I play hardcore industrial progressive dark death shredding emo metal ... j/k).

What kinda distortion pedal would you suggest? BTW, if I am buying one, I want to buy a nice one, rather than keep changing bad ones.

Thanks

Re: What distortion pedal should I get

believe it or not the Rocktron Metal Planet is a kick ass distortion pedal. Everyone that comes over to record and uses it wants me to order them one. they are 50 or 55 bucks brand new on ebay.

Awesome harmonics. a very mesa recto type pedal.

Re: What distortion pedal should I get

i'd suggest Line6's UBER METAL- 3 voicings should you get board, all very intense...

Re: What distortion pedal should I get

If you're looking to do dark & heavy stuff I would suggest my Body Rot- Huge bottom end, lots of grind on top, and a reasonable price tag for a hand built pice of gear.

Dennis your pedal lineup is QUITE impressive, as are your prices. Do they all have true bypass? If not can somebody order one with it? Lately I've been looking for a pedal to go along with my SD pup booster pedal for some more grit, since I can't turn my amp up as loud as I used to. :blackeye:

I'll second this. I was working at GC when these were realeased and the Rocktron rep let me try one out. i asked him if there was anything special about and he said "It's a Metal Zone ripoff with a few chages to the tone circuits." :laugh2: I kid you not. I found it to be a little BETTER sounding than the metal zone actually!

Personally I'd recommend:
G2D pedals
Fulltone Pedals
Keeley Boss Mods
Tonebones

Re: What distortion pedal should I get

The Rocktron Rampage is very nice as well, more Marshall sound then Mesa but I'd like to check out the new Silver Dragon.

Re: What distortion pedal should I get

my brothers got the silver dragon. Its got a nice overdrive on the first channel, and then you cna really tweak the way the distortion sounds with the rectifier circuit on the other channel. I prefer my rocktron metal planet, because of its high gain distortion (might let it go if i cna get my rectoverb) and its harmonics.

Get a modded DS-1 off of John!!!!! You wont be sorry. Johns mods are the real deal. Other pedals I have played are like musical masterbation. They are almost like good distortion but, they are just not quite there.

Go for the Spina Mod. It is worth the money for the upgrade.

Re: What distortion pedal should I get

The best pedal I've ever had for heavy music is the G2D Morpheus (one of the pedals I had before this was the Metalzone).
