My SG (see my profile) has P-90s, and played through my teach's Line 6 (100w/2x12 Spider combo made c. '97) I can get a good hard rock tone. Specifically, think

Sweet Emotion, Black Dog, Sunshine of Your Love and of course The Who... but the fact that it's trough a modeling amp makes me uncomfortable. It seems a bit too dark for The Who, to be honest. But whatever, I like it.

Like single coils? Like humbuckers? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Less presence than humbucker and without the murkyness of a humbucker.


But otherwise pretty similar IMO, they just sound BETTER than a humbucker. But not all of us can put up with the noise...
